dc.description.abstract The general aim of this research project is to: Investigate the components of teacher competence and how these can enhance teaching effectiveness. To fulfil this main objective, the group dealing with order and discipline will: * Investigate the composition of order and discipline and how this can enhance teacher competence. As a member of the group dealing with order and discipline, it is the specific aim of this research paper to - explore the contribution of quality teaching practices towards sustaining order and discipline; - to gather teacher opinions as to the extent which teachers use quality teaching practices to enhance order and discipline; and devise a strategy whereby quality teaching practices can facilitate order and discipline, enhance teacher competence and improve teaching effectiveness. To achieve all these aims a special 'modus operandi' has to be employed in this study project. en_US
